BACKSTORY

The Foundry borrows its name and vision from John Wesley, a pastor and reformer in 18th Century England. Wesley reclaimed and restored an old abandoned foundry, a space once used to make weapons. He transformed it into a hub for worship, education, social justice, art and community engagement.

With this same visionary spirit, Love Chapel Hill has stewarded this location as a church, fostering collaboration and creativity in ministry since late 2008. In that time, The Foundry has been home to multiple church families in the early stages of development, provided space for trainings and retreats for organizations serving our community, and been a special gathering place for LCH events.

Prior to LCH in 2008, this was the home to our forerunners in ministry, Chapel Hill Wesleyan Church. Founded in 1987 and developing this facility in the early 90's, they began meeting here in 1994. The Lord has been moving here in mighty ways ever since. We're excited to be a part of the work The Lord is doing in and through this place.
