Mission

At Love Chapel Hill, we believe that children are not only the future, that they are an important part of the kingdom of God, here and now, no matter their age. Jesus highlights the value of children to him and instructs his disciples to be more like them (Matthew 19:14). We have as much to learn from them as they do from us!

Sunday Experience

When you enter our lobby space, you will see our family resource center directly in front of you. One of our family ministry volunteers will greet you and your child(ren). For kids 10 and under we have programming during the service. You can register and check them into our system here. Both you and your child will receive a name tag and these will be used to pick up your child at the end of service. Infants and toddlers (ages 3 months-2 years) can be brought directly down the hall to our nursery. Children 3 and up will join you first in the sanctuary for worship before being sent to their classes.

Worshiping  Together

Our ministry aims to engage the whole family in worship. We invite families to participate in worship together for the first half of the service- because children learn by watching and participating. We also livestream our service in the nursery so even our youngest members can experience Sunday worship! We have a host of tools to help children engage and worship in a way that is comfortable to them- including noise-reducing headphones, sensory items, dancing ribbons, and instruments to add their own joyful noise!

Growing in Faith

At the same time, we recognize that parents have different needs in order to grow in their faith. So, we send our kids off with joy just before the sermon for a fun-filled time of learning and play with our trained leaders.

For our children, we offer three unique learning environments: the nursery, ages 3 months to 2 years; a pre-k classroom ages 3-5 years; and an elementary classroom, ages 6-10 years. Our goal on Sunday morning is to build a relationship with your child, encourage their natural curiosity, teach them the foundations of our faith, and, of course, to have fun! Our hope and prayer is that through their time with us over the years, they will come to know the love of Jesus, to feel a connection to the church, and have a hunger to go deeper as they mature.

Youth

For our youth kids/teens (ages 11-18) we encourage them to engage fully in worship on Sundays. This in-between kid and adult space is a time for going deeper and getting more connected, as well as establishing an identity in Jesus and the Church. We have resource packets for middle-school aged kids to help them stay engaged in the service. Additionally, we aim to integrate our youth fully into the church community by encouraging them to serve on Sunday Morning in some capacity- whether it's helping with hospitality, media and production, or even on the worship team. This helps them take ownership of the mission of the church and feel more prepared to find their own spaces of worship one day. That said, we are building toward having regular youth gatherings and discipleship opportunities outside of Sunday mornings, and hope to have that start very soon!

Family

We also recognize that discipleship is not only for Sunday mornings. We have a deep desire to equip and support parents to both grow in their own faith while also raising their children as disciples (Deuteronomy 6:5-9). In addition to our efforts to make the Sunday morning experience inviting for families, we offer periodic groups and events geared toward family discipleship. We aim to make Love Chapel Hill a place where the entire family will feel loved with the heart of Jesus!
